Trip to Sochi II

A trip by several AfD members to Sochi (Russia) to attend a so-called BRICS International Forum has caused such a stir within the Union that it has labeled the AfD a “Kremlin party” and “traitors to the country,” with Roderich Kiesewetter (CDU) calling for proceedings to ban the AfD to be examined. This is how the foreign policy expert is quoted in Die Welt.

The planned trip by Rainer Rothfuß, Steffen Kotré, Jörg Urban, and Hans Neuhoff is being supported and financed by the Bundestag parliamentary group this year. Last year, the federal leadership had shown clear disapproval when Rothfuß and Ulrich Singer listened to a three-hour speech by former Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev at the BRICS event in Sochi.
