Brazil: Trump meets with Flávio Bolsonaro

On May 26, Donald Trump met with a Brazilian delegation led by Flávio Bolsonaro, the leading far-right candidate for Brazil's October presidential race. The timing was strategically chosen by the Bolsonaro family, since Flávio's campaign is reeling from a political scandal involving $26 million allegedly funneled through a convicted fraudster to finance a propaganda film about his imprisoned father, Jair Bolsonaro.

The meeting, which lasted nearly two hours, resulted in the U.S. State Department designating Brazil's two largest criminal factions (Comando Vermelho and Primeiro Comando da Capital) as terrorist organizations - a move that has been widely criticized, because these organizations have no ideological bias, no political or religious bias, and do not seek to change the system - And it has been seen as an opening for the United States to interfere in the October presidential campaign. ReGA reported on this back in April.

The brazilian delegation also included Eduardo Bolsonaro, who is now under investigation for potentially receiving funds tied to the film scandal, and Paulo Figueiredo, a commentator facing charges in Brazil for his alleged role in the 2023 coup attempt.
