Fratelli Youth sings
Escrito por: Ulli Jentsch
In Italy, too, the fascist past is not yet over. There is a new scandal involving the youth wing of the ruling Fratelli d'Italia (FdI - Brothers of Italy) party led by Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. On the anniversary of the fascist march on Rome (October 28), of all days, there were exuberant celebrations at the Fratelli party headquarters in Parma, where the fascist anthem “Me ne frego” (I don't care) was sung, followed by chants of “Duce, Duce.” The whole thing can be seen in a video circulating on social media (for example, here) . The judiciary is now investigating, the regional branch of the National Youth has been immediately dissolved, and the party leadership has threatened consequences.
This is reminiscent of the article Andreas Wassermann wrote for us in Newsletter #7: The Integration of Fascism: Why Right-Wing Extremist Ideology is Becoming Normal in Giorgia Meloni's Italy.
That's why we highly recommend reading it again!
