The AfD is returning the favor for its numerous trips abroad—with invitations to the Bundestag. The AfD Working Group on Economic Cooperation and Development has convened a German-Indian Forum for June 9, which will focus on the topics of security and prosperity. “For Germany and Europe, India is today a key strategic partner whose importance is steadily growing in light of global uncertainties and economic upheavals,” the invitation states. In addition to the Indian Embassy, two members of the Indian Parliament—Kartikeya Sharma (Upper House) and Arun Nehru (Lower House)—have been announced as speakers.

And according to the AfD parliamentary group, “politicians, scholars, journalists, and media representatives from Germany and abroad” have also been invited to the 1st Democracy Congress to discuss the topics of “freedom of expression—media—human rights.” However, the parliamentary group has limited its invitations to German-speaking countries; guests from the Czech Republic, Austria, and Switzerland are expected. Among those announced are Susanne Fürst of the FPÖ, who was just at the Identitarian Congress in Portugal, as well as Holger Friedrich, the publisher of the Berliner Zeitung and the new Ostdeutsche Allgemeine, who will give a keynote speech and was just at the Russian Economic Forum in St. Petersburg.
