"Canada First" Conservative alongside a MAGA USA
Verfasst von: Martin Thériault
On the eve of a Federal election in fall this year and a trade war with the US, the Canadian Tories (Conservative Party of Canada - CPC) are seeing a drop in support - dropping from a 26 point-lead in just 6 weeks in recent poll, with Liberal having a slight lead - and rebranding them as a "Canada First" option similar to the Trump’s America First. They are pushing the same fight against globalism, wokism, scapegoating immigrants, cuts the Big government, cutting international aid to fund the military, attacking LGBTQ+ rights, promising a return to Canadian values and meritocracy not DEI, cutting taxes for the wealthy.
Poilièvre and his supporters
Their new leader Pierre Poilièvre took over after a putsch inside the CPC at the time the Far-right was staging the Convoy who wanted to take down the Federal Liberal. A Convoy of Far-right supporting jammed the Capital for weeks, they supported until members of the Far-right Diagolon Militia were arrested in Coutts, blockade of the US border in Alberta, heavily armed and charged with conspiracy to commit murders of Police officers. In September 2022, Poilièvre was crowned with 68% of the vote as their leader.
Poilièvre, 45, is a career politician, who started at 16, rose from the Far-right Reform Party to the Conservatives. He is an MP since 2004 and a former Minister in the Harper government. Stephen Harper, who heads the IDU – International Democracy Union, based in Munich and has the ECR and EPP as sections, is Poilièvre’s mentor. He has been a fixture with other right-wing figures for decades. Poilièvre rise to power using the right-wing web network of Canada Proud and its Provincial networks owned by millionnaire of Mobilize Media, crafting popular shariable anti-Liberal content.
Anderson from AfD tours Canada
In 2023, three of his MPs met Christine Anderson, Member of the European Parliament for the German AfD (more on Anderson’s tour here), but Poilièvre refused to kick them out and claiming no knowledge of the AfD. One of them, Leslyn Lewis, is now a key member of his Shadow cabinet, despite endorsing a petition to get out of the UN and the WHO and a key figure in the anti-abortion movement. In 2024, while crossing Canada, Poilièvre was taped at a No Carbon tax encampment with Diagolon Far-right activists, just like Trump, he said he did not know who they were, just good canadians protesting the Far-left Liberal. The Tories presidential candidate was also praised by Elon Musk, Alex Jones, Ben Shapiro, Tucker Carlson and far-right Joe Rogan podcaster as "the real deal".
Romance with Tech oligarchs: Shopify, Rumble, Juno News
In December 2024, Pierre Poilièvre stated the e-commerce platform shopify.com as most spectacular success story of the century and praised CEO Tobias Lütke and COO Kaz Nejatian as champion of the real new leaders for businesses. Shopify, according to Rachel Gilmore, continues to provide services to far-right Daily Wire, Rebel News, Alex Jones’ post Infowars merchandises and was also the key of the infamous nazi t-shirt of Kanye West, later dropped… Nejatian, a former Tory staffer, launched with his partner Candice Malcolm the Far-right media network True North, who published regular racist, anti-immigrant and once featured interview with Proud Boys founder, group designated as terrorist in Canada, which it later took off their website when exposed.
Tory romance with Rumble
In 2024, as part of the Tory romance with Tech oligarchs a meeting was held with Rumble, founded in Toronto in 2013 as a platform for free speech as an alternative to Youtube and a cloud services business, who now hosts Truth Social of Donald Trump. It is valued at $2,5 billion and has US Vice President JD Vance holding close to $1,5 million in share. The new appointed deputy director of the FBI, podcaster Dan Bongino, is one of the biggest Rumble investors owning around 14% of the stock, with 16 millions shares valued at $ 130 million and being timely part owner of the twitter alternative Parler. According to Reuters in 2022, Rumble had 78 million monthly active users including the infamous far-right mysoginist Andrew Tate. In May 2024, Rumble hosted a first ever event featuring Donald Trump Jr., his wife, Far-right streamer and former MP candidate Viva Frei and Rumble CEO in Toronto, to denounce the online harms bill C-63 in Canada. The gathering was also featuring Far-right Rebel News, True North, and Convoy leader Tamara Lich.
In February, 2025, Juno News was formed by Candice Malcolm from True North and Keenan Bexte from Counter Signal. Bexte was a Rebel News staffer , worked with a white nationalist web store Fireforce in 2018 (until exposed), formed Counter Signal in 2021 and went to support the Farmers movement in the Netherland, as an outcome of the ‘freedom convoy’ in Canada. He was also instrumental in passing a resolution calling for an end to birthright citizenship during the Conservative convention in 2018.
Canadian Tories: Trumpism in disguise
Poilièvre’s policies of common sense politics is nothing more than Trumpism in disguise. The Far-right sees him as a «real alternative» with a chance of winning the election. In this framework, the Far-right People’s Party of Canada (PPC) with it’s 5% results in last election is still useful to link with various Far-right but the main vehicle to access power is now the Conservative, in it’s Reform Party 2.0 format.
